Düsseldorf-based Hans-Peter Feldmann is a passionate collector of images and stories, an original thinker and one of the first conceptual artists. Since the sixties, he has been collecting, producing, and exhibiting photographs, combining the humor of American conceptual artists like John Baldessari and Richard Prince with the gravitas of Germans like Gerhard Richter. Feldmann is a prolific producer of artist books. His publications have been instrumental in establishing the genre as a recognisable form of artistic practice, influencing generations of artists who have followed him. Hans-Peter Feldmann. This exhibition includes Hans Peter Feldmann’s (Dusseldorf, Germany, 1941) most representative works, from the Seventies until today. Fascinated by the few images that he found around him during the German post-war period, he begins to collect them, cut them out and stick them in albums, something he continues to do. From his earliest pieces, Feldmann organises his Hans-Peter Feldmann was the recipient of the 2010 Hugo Boss Award, with an accompanying exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum, New York. His work has recently been featured in exhibitions at Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Kempner Art Museum St. Louis, MOCAD, Detroit, Serpentine Gallery, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 2017. Simon Lee Gallery presents German artist Hans-Peter Feldmann’s third solo exhibition at its Hong Kong space.
